A month of two halves, with exceptionally mild weather in the first two weeks and cooler in the second half of the month. There was snow cover on 5 days in the final week of February after a showery and cold last week. This was a month dominated by high pressure, and as such was fairly sunny. The mean temperature was 5.0C, which is 1.6C above the long term Durham average of 3.4C for February. As per January, the high mean temperature was mostly due to mild night time minimum temperatures, rather than high daytime temperatures, with only 7 days of air frost recorded. Total recorded rainfall for the month was 43mm, very close to the long term Durham average of 42mm, while measurable rainfall fell on 11 days.
So in summary, a mild month with average rainfall.
