A cold start to March 2004, the first 3 days although dry
had snow cover recorded at 9am, snow cover left over from the end of February
in fact. From mid month onwards temperatures were generally above average, and
even though it wasn’t a particularly sunny month, it was dry. Only 9 days with
recorded rainfall. Overall, the mean temperature was 5.9c, which is almost 1c
above the long term Durham average of 5.0c. So the first 3 months of 2004 have
all been above average temperature wise. During the month, rainfall totalled
22mm, which is less than 50% of the long term March average of 51mm. To
summarise, fairly mild and dry.
